A Laser YAG capsulotomy is a quick, painless procedure used to restore clear vision after cataract surgery. Over time, the thin membrane behind the artificial lens can become cloudy—a condition called posterior capsular opacification (PCO) or “secondary cataract.” This cloudiness can cause blurry vision, glare, halos, and difficulty with daily tasks.
The YAG laser creates a small opening in that cloudy membrane, allowing light to pass through clearly again. Vision often improves almost immediately, and there is no recovery time.
Because every patient’s eyes and medical needs are unique, this procedure may not be recommended in all cases. Your doctor will assess whether this procedure is an option for you.
Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT) is a safe, non-invasive laser treatment used to help lower eye pressure in patients with open-angle glaucoma. During the procedure, gentle laser energy is applied to the eye's natural drainage system, improving fluid outflow and reducing intraocular pressure.
SLT is performed in the office and typically takes only a few minutes per eye. The treatment does not involve incisions or implants, and most patients can resume their normal activities shortly afterward.
Lowering eye pressure is one of the most effective ways to slow the progression of glaucoma and help protect long-term vision. SLT may be recommended as an alternative to glaucoma eye drops or in combination with medications to achieve better pressure control.
Before treatment, your doctor will place numbing drops in the eye. The laser is then applied to the drainage tissue to enhance fluid flow. Most patients experience little to no discomfort during the procedure. Follow-up visits are scheduled to monitor eye pressure and evaluate the treatment's effectiveness.
If you have been diagnosed with glaucoma or ocular hypertension, SLT may be an effective option to help preserve your vision and maintain your eye health.
